DA Seeks Public’s Help in International Manhunt

Victims of Elder Abuse Tell Their Stories

In San Diego County, almost 23 percent of the population is projected to be over age 65 by the year 2050, which is a 10 percent increase from 2015. With the older population increasing, elder abuse is also on the rise. Adult Protective Services has continued to receive an increased number of referrals from fiscal years 2014 to 2017.  Financial abuse was the most common form of abuse seen in their confirmed cases, followed by mental suffering and physical abuse. In this video, victims of elder abuse recount their stories, including financial and physical elder abuse.

Protecting Lilac Fire Victims

Wildfire victims can become re-victimized by scammers looking to make a fast buck. To protect residents affected by the Lilac Fire, District Attorney Investigators are teaming up with the Department of Insurance and the Contractors State License Board to canvas neighborhoods, letting people know how to protect themselves.  Watch more in this video. Exactly 39 years ago, on November 4, 1978, San Diego Police Department Officer Archie Buggs gave the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.  The District Attorney’s Office is so proud to have joined Officer Buggs’ family on Saturday in the dedication ceremony of the Officer Archie Buggs Southeastern Division Substation.
